Expansion of Telecommunications Network
Chadbourne represented DukeNet Communications LLC in procurement of a US$150 million senior-secured credit facility for expansion of its telecommunications network.
Inter Partes Review Defense. Successfully assisted a world-renowned media company defend a challenge to its patents in an IPR proceeding. The IPR petition was denied and a number of claims survived the board's final written decision.
Acquisition of Mexico Telecom Assets. Represented Macquarie Infrastructure Partners on an acquisition of a portfolio of companies that own telecommunications assets in Mexico.
Bolivia Telecom Project. Represented the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in connection with its financing of AES Communications Bolivia S.A., a US$97 million telecommunications project that provides fixed long-distance telephony services and data transmission.
Dialog Telecom Project. Represented International Finance Corporation (IFC), as sole lender to the US$110 million nationwide expansion and upgrade of Dialog's GSM digital cellular network in Sri Lanka.
Dominican Republic Telecom Project. Represented the IFC in connection with its US$130 million investment in France Telecom Dominicana's Orange S.A., sponsor of a nationwide GSM 1900 cellular network project in the Dominican Republic. The US$290 million project increased wireless telecommunications and provided new high-speed data services to local companies.
Fibergate. Represented DukeNet Communications LLC in procurement of a US$150 million senior-secured credit facility for expansion of its telecommunications network, future acquisitions and general corporate purposes.
Hawaiian Telcom Communications. Represented Spear Point in connection with the development of solar projects with Hawaiian Telcom Communications, Inc.
Telecom Technology. Advised the IFC on an investment in Telecom Technology Limited, a Tajik company, to finance the acquisition of VSAT land stations and associated technology.
Turkcell. Advised the borrower in two financings worth US$360 million, composed of a US$285 million buyer credit financing 2G and 3G equipment for Turkcell in Turkey and a US$75 million buyer credit financing 2G equipment for Astelit, a Ukrainian company majority owned by Turkcell.
