Chadbourne Prevails on All “Skinnygirl Margarita” Cases
Chadbourne, as national counsel to Beam Suntory, successfully defeated each of the nine putative nationwide class actions brought in federal courts across the country by plaintiffs who claimed that the words “All Natural” on the product label for Beam’s "Skinnygirl Margarita" ready-to-drink cocktail product were false and misleading. In each of the nine cases, either class certification was denied, or the case was voluntarily dismissed, with no payment of damages.
Chadbourne Represents Pharmaceutical Company Purdue Pharma LP
For more than a decade, Chadbourne has served as co-national counsel to Purdue Pharma in thousands of individual cases and putative class actions filed across the country, alleging that OxyContin®, an opioid analgesic pain medication, was defectively designed and over-promoted. We have successfully opposed plaintiffs’ motions for class certification in multiple jurisdictions and also successfully opposed plaintiffs’ efforts to transfer the federal cases to the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation. Our representation is ongoing.
Chadbourne Prevails on Motion to Dismiss
Defended the manufacturer of high-end household appliances in a consumer fraud putative class action in the in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. The plaintiff claimed mold developed in the washing machine she purchased and sued under state consumer protection statutes, and for breach of implied warranties and unjust enrichment. Chadbourne successfully moved for dismissal.
