As part of Chadbourne’s strong commitment to resolving disputes in the most efficient and cost-effective manner for our clients, our litigators are well-versed in all areas of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). We believe that we best serve our clients when we address ADR before a dispute arises, so we work closely with our colleagues in our corporate and other practices to craft arbitration clauses that best suit our clients’ needs. We are often called upon to handle contract disputes in which the contract calls for arbitration, and courts increasingly order ADR as a component of litigation.

While ADR is not always appropriate or advisable, our clients have increasingly  found that the privacy, flexibility and relative speed of ADR make it the logical choice in business disputes of all kinds, including those featuring complex financial issues. We are prepared to guide clients through unfamiliar processes and arcane legal systems and advise them on the proper drafting of ADR provisions for both domestic and international transactions. Our lawyers have been involved in hundreds of ADR matters including arbitrations, mediations, mini-trials, moderated settlements and appearances before regulatory and government agencies and officials. We have obtained successful outcomes for our clients in high stakes disputes throughout the United States, and in arbitrations before international institutions such as ICC, ICSID, ICDR and other panels throughout the world.
