Practice Description
Young Yoo focuses his practice primarily on bankruptcy and financial restructuring. Mr. Yoo has experience representing a diverse clientele including secured lenders, unsecured creditors and creditors' committees in complex bankruptcy and restructuring situations across several industries. His practice has included participation in varying aspects of the restructuring process from in-court Chapter 11 cases to adversarial bankruptcy litigation.
Representative Matters
- Assisted in the representation of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the Tribune Company bankruptcy cases.
- Represented the Spiegel Creditor Trust as successor to the debtors in the Spiegel, Inc. bankruptcy cases.
- Assisted in the representation of Citicorp North America, Inc. as agent for certain secured lenders in the Tousa, Inc. bankruptcy cases.
- Assisted in the representation of the joint administrators of Oilexco North Sea Limited in their ancillary cases under Chapter 15 of the Bankruptcy Code.
- Represents or represented the brokerage and securities arm of a leading bank in the Extended Stay and HomeBanc Mortgage Corp. bankruptcy cases.
- Represents or represented a leading retailer in the following bankruptcy cases: Lyondell, Chemtura, WCI Communities, Quebecor, and Jevic Holding Corp.
- Represents or represented a software provider in the following bankruptcy cases: American Homes, HomeBanc Mortgage Corp., and Advanta Corp.
- Represented several individual investors in the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.
- Assisted in the representation of various creditors, including foreign banks and other financial institutions, in the Lehman bankruptcy cases.
- Assisted in the representation of an indenture trustee in connection with Lehman Brothers structured note programs.
- Pro bono representation of a New York charter school in Brooklyn in its successful application for 501(c)(3) federal tax-exempt status.
