Practice Description

William D’Amico’s practice concentrates in complex litigation, including antitrust, mergers and acquisitions, and securities matters and cases, as well as commercial litigation. During his extensive practice of law, Mr. D’Amico has handled matters and cases involving a variety of industries before federal trial and appellate courts, the Department of Energy, Federal Trade Commission, Federal Communications Commission, Department of Justice and the Consumer Products Safety Commission. He is the head of Chadbourne’s antitrust and trade regulation practice and often works in tandem with Chadbourne’s litigation team in the New York office.

Representative Matters

  • Represented Moore Corporation in Moore Corp. Ltd. v. Wallace Computer Services, Inc., fiduciary-duty litigation brought by a hostile acquiror against a target company in the business-forms industry. Mr. D’Amico represented the acquiror in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware against the target’s defensive antitrust challenge, which sought to enjoin the proposed takeover. The court rejected both the target’s substantive antitrust claims and its very standing even to raise them.
  • Represented PanAmSat Corporation in its business combination with the geostationary satellite business of Hughes Electronics Corporation.
  • Represents a global consumer products company in acquisition matters and in multi-jurisdictional transactions.
  • Advised Symbol Tech on antitrust issues in connection with Symbol’s acquisition of Spectralink, a company that manufactures voice over IP wireless telephones. Mr. D’Amico also has advised Symbol on several other acquisition-related matters.
  • Represented Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD), a Brazilian mining company, as U.S. antitrust counsel in a $17.6 billion tender offer acquisition of Inco.
