The United Kingdom practice supports clients in a wide range of project finance, corporate, corporate finance, insolvency and financial restructuring, securities, commercial law and regulatory issues, insurance and litigation matters, including multi-jurisdictional products liability litigation and related legislative issues. Lawyers work on matters throughout Eastern and Western Europe, as well as in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Latin America. The practice advises clients on both U.S. and English law.

The practice assists Chadbourne's other international offices in Eastern Europe and the CIS. Work for the Moscow, Almaty, Warsaw, Kyiv and St. Petersburg offices involves both major transactions and day-to-day legal issues. For example, corporate lawyers in London have represented Russian issuers of securities in the international capital markets and numerous companies and investors in connection with the acquisition of assets and companies in the CIS and eastern Europe.

Bankruptcy and Restructuring

Our bankruptcy and restructuring lawyers principally act for creditors in complex cross-border insolvency and financial restructuring engagements in the United Kingdom and across continental Europe. We represent a variety of U.S. and European financial institutions, including hedge funds, mutual funds and investment banks, and also international firms of accountants on many wide-ranging issues relating to debtors in various stages of financial distress. Our practice also encompasses financial restructuring in emerging markets, particularly Turkey, where we assist our clients making investments in the distressed asset class. We also have a team of lawyers dedicated to the closing of distressed bank debt trades in relation to debtors across Europe for our hedge fund and investment banking clients. Lawyers in the team are conversant with LMA, LSTA and, for other traded products, ISDA documentation.

Corporate

Chadbourne represents purchasers and sellers, as well as commercial and investment banks, in connection with mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, both public and private, negotiated and hostile. We represent issuers, underwriters and selling stockholders in connection with public and private securities offerings. Our U.S. and U.K. corporate lawyers work closely to support the attorneys in our other international offices on the U.S. and U.K. aspects of their cross-border transactions principally in eastern Europe, the CIS, the Middle East and Africa.
