Chadbourne’s trusts, estates and personal planning group concentrates its practice on wealth transfer planning for both domestic and international clients. We work on behalf of our clients to minimize estate, gift and income taxes and to manage related planning matters, including family business succession and generation-skipping tax issues.

The group advises closely-held businesses on all aspects of their financial affairs, and the financial affairs of their owners. The group has special expertise in the international planning area in which it works closely with our tax practice group to achieve both tax and non-tax objectives for our U.S. and international clients. Our experience also includes the negotiation and drafting of separation agreements and pre-nuptial agreements, counseling both public and private charities, and representing fiduciaries in estate and trust administrations.

In addition to our planning capabilities, our trusts and estates litigators have successfully represented executors, trustees, and other interested parties in high-profile, high-stakes estate-related litigation. These litigations have involved hundreds of millions of dollars in highly-contested court fights, in both federal and state courts.
