Telecom, Media and Technology

The Telecom, Media and Technology practice group ("TMT Group") at Chadbourne is a team of experienced attorneys and regulatory consultants who provide a complete and coordinated approach to the transactional, M&A, corporate, finance, outsourcing, regulatory and litigation matters affecting individuals and businesses in the telecommunications, media, Internet, information services and technology/software industries. Our clients include domestic and international telecommunications companies (wireline and wireless), cable television companies, network programming interests, Internet and information service providers, broadcasters, performing arts individuals and enterprises, cable television companies, satellite operators, equipment manufacturers and software providers.

Our clients include both traditional media and telecommunications businesses and Internet-based businesses. We are experienced with both established laws and regulations affecting traditional media and telecommunications services as well as emerging laws and regulations affecting Internet-based services, including cyber-security and privacy issues. We advise clients at all stages of their business life cycle, from concept through maturity, including some entities that are now market leaders in their industries.

Our TMT Group works closely with Chadbourne's Intellectual Property practice to provide seamless cross-discipline advice to our TMT clients.

We also advise investors, investment bankers and fund managers who are actively involved in providing capital to and facilitating transactions among communications, media and technology businesses. We help investors and advisers understand existing and emerging laws and regulations and advise on how best to structure investments and transactions within the U.S. and internationally. We have helped structure and obtain regulatory approval for mergers, joint ventures, asset sales, marketing alliances, and restructurings that include some of the largest transactions in the telecommunications industry.

Where specialized regulatory matters affecting the TMT sector are involved, we represent clients before the U.S. Federal Communications Commission ("FCC") as well as other relevant U.S. agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice, the Universal Service Administrative Company and state public service commissions.

Our international telecommunications, media and technology practice is global. Experienced and dedicated Chadbourne attorneys in offices in London, Moscow, Beijing, Dubai, Mexico City, Warsaw and Kyiv handle significant transactions, litigation and regulatory matters for our clients throughout all regions. In the U.S. and abroad, our TMT Group works seamlessly with Chadbourne attorneys who are experts in related fields, such as tax, securities, anti-trust, bankruptcy, homeland security, cyber-security and privacy.
