Practice Description

Meghan Towers focuses her experience in a variety of bankruptcy situations, including the representation of secured and unsecured creditors in Chapter 11 and the representation of foreign representatives in cross-border ancillary proceedings. In addition, Ms. Towers is active in Chadbourne & Parke's pro bono program and has worked on a variety of pro bono cases covering domestic violence, immigration, worker’s rights and public education issues. 

Representative Matters

  • In re TOUSA, Inc. – Assisting in the representation of Citibank as administrative agent in connection with a first priority $700 million revolving secured credit facility and a $200 million secured first priority term loan in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of this national homebuilder and certain of its subsidiaries. This representation has included defending against a fiercely contested fraudulent conveyance litigation brought by the Creditors' Committee against both the first and second lien lender groups, as well as the secured lenders to a failed joint venture, which litigation is currently on appeal before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, following a decision in the Southern District of Florida which reversed the bankruptcy court’s decision in favor of the Creditor’s Committee.
  • In re Capmark Financial Group, Inc. – Assisting in the representation of Citibank as administrative agent in connection with an unsecured loan and unsecured bridge loan facility, totaling $4.5 billion, in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of this global financial services company specializing in commercial mortgage servicing with an aggregate debt in excess of $20 billion.
  • In re Tribune Company, et al. – Assisting in the representation of the official committee of unsecured creditors in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases of this media giant with an aggregate debt in excess of $13 billion.
  • In re A.B. C. Learning Centers Limited – Assisting in the representation of the joint liquidators of A.B.C. Learning Centres Limited, the operators of childcare centers in Australia and several other countries, in their Chapter 15 cases which sought recognition in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware of voluntary winding-up proceedings (i.e. liquidations) pending in Australia.
  • In re Parmalat USA Corp., et al. – Assisting in the representation of the creditor trust as successor to the Debtors.
