Practice Description

Leslie Schreyer has more than 35 years of experience in tax planning and tax controversies. He concentrates on international and domestic tax planning for multinational companies and high net worth families. Mr. Schreyer’s practice includes structuring of international publicly and privately held businesses and family wealth to optimize tax savings in the United States and abroad; mergers, acquisitions and dispositions; joint ventures; transfer pricing and related issues; and trust and estate planning.

Mr. Schreyer has significant experience in tax controversies, including federal, state and foreign tax audits, appeals within the Internal Revenue Service, and tax litigation. He has testified before the Royal Court of Jersey, Channel Islands, as an expert witness on U.S. tax law. As Deputy International Tax Counsel to the U.S. Treasury Department, Mr. Schreyer supervised the Reagan administration’s formulation of international tax policy, including legislation and regulations. He also led tax treaty negotiations for the United States with numerous countries, including the United Kingdom, France and the People’s Republic of China.

Honors

Mr. Schreyer has been listed in Euromoney’s Guide to the World’s Leading Tax Advisers since 2000. He is also listed in New York Super Lawyers (2007) for tax law.
