Callback interviews are scheduled in the morning, starting at 9:45 am or 10:15 am and in the afternoon, starting at 2:15 pm or 2:45 pm. You will meet with three or four attorneys, including some combination of partners and associates for approximately 30 minutes each. SUMMER PROGRAM:
What is the typical size of your summer program?
The New York summer class typically ranges between 15-20 summer associates. The Washington, DC and Los Angeles summer classes range between 2-4 summer associates.
What is the length of the summer program?
The summer program ranges between 9 - 12 weeks in length.
Are summer associates allowed to split their summers with other offices or employers?
Chadbourne & Parke does offer split summer opportunities on a case-by-case basis. You must receive approval from the Firm before you accept your offer. If you are holding an offer and would like to discuss this option, please call Lisa Featherson, Manager of Recruitment and Associate Life.
How do I receive assignments throughout the summer?
Work assignments are distributed by the Legal Recruiting Department and are customized based on interest, work load, familiarity with the subject and availability. There is no formal rotation throughout your summer, so you are welcome to take assignments from as many practice groups as you like. You will also fill out weekly questionnaires regarding your work to ensure that you are receiving the assignments of most interest to you.
What training opportunities are given to Summer Associates throughout the Program?
Chadbourne & Parke is dedicated to the professional development of its attorneys, which we believe begins during your first summer with the Firm. Chadbourne offers a variety of training seminars and workshops throughout the summer, including but not limited to: Diversity Training, Confidentiality Training, Legal Writing Workshop, Ethics Seminar, Negotiation Training, Business Development Workshop and Deposition Skills Workshop. You will also receive presentations from each of our major practice groups to better inform you of our practice.
How will I receive feedback on my work?
The attorneys with whom you work will give you feedback on your work on a consistent basis. You will have two formal reviews throughout the summer where you will be given verbal and written feedback on all of your completed and in-progress projects.
What are some of the social events planned for the Summer?
Each summer, the Recruiting Department works to ensure that summer associates gain exposure to the "Chadbourne culture" and people. In that regard, social events are planned to help integrate summer associates. Events typically include, but are not limited to cooking classes in Tribeca, Broadway theater nights, wine tastings, scavenger hunts around the city, exciting sporting events, and trips to New York landmarks, like the legendary Apollo Theater and Top of the Rock.
When will I find out if I have received an offer? Will the offer be in a specific practice area?
In the past several years, Chadbourne & Parke has been able to give final offer decisions to students before the end of the Summer Program. The offer will be either transactional or litigation based, with your formal practice area to be determined closer to your start date at the discretion of the firm.
