Chadbourne Coal-to-Liquids Conference

October 9, 2007

Chadbourne held its coal-to-liquids (CTL) conference on October 9, 2007 at its New York offices. Governor George Pataki, a Chadbourne counsel, gave the opening remarks at the conference, which was comprised of two panels featuring industry leaders.

The first panel included developers, bankers and contractors addressing issues such as the availability of debt and equity, risk allocation among project participants, carbon capture, and optimization of carried interests for developers. Partner Todd Alexander moderated this panel and partner Keith Martin took part in the discussion.

John Cahill, a Chadbourne counsel, moderated the second panel, which included governmental officials, coal industry lobbyists and environmentalists addressing the political aspects of CTL industry development in the United States. They also discussed the prospects for support of CTL in the current federal energy bill.

Executives from DKRW, Rentech, Black & Veatch, Peabody Coal, HSBC, Credit Suisse and other companies were on the panels.
