Maintaining a Diverse Community
The Committee oversees Chadbourne’s programs to maintain a diverse community, which include:
- Requiring all partners and employees to attend a sensitivity training program that covers policies relating to discrimination, harassment and diversity.
- Providing an Ombuds accessible to both legal and non-legal staff on a confidential basis to discuss any individual’s concerns about our workplace environment. He may offer the individual options for handling and resolving the issue or concern, and can also provide information about the Firm’s formal complaint procedures.
- The Firm currently supports two affinity groups, the Diverse Attorneys Network and the Women's Initiatives Group, for lawyers to gather socially, network, mentor or benefit from mentoring, and to generally share ideas and experiences.
- The Diverse Attorneys Network hosts events for minority summer associates and for minority students with offers, supporting the Firm's diversity recruitment and mentoring efforts.
- Chadbourne is enhancing women’s experience at the Firm in a number of ways. The Women’s Initiatives Group fosters professional, social and personal development for all of the Firm’s women attorneys. Read more about the Women's Initiatives Group.
- Benefits. The Firm offers same-sex domestic partner benefits to all attorneys and staff members. In the addition, the Firm offers 18 weeks of paid primary caregiver leave for birth mothers and four weeks paid leave to the other caregiver parent. The Firm makes part-time and flex-time work options available.
