Chadbourne has a long-standing cooperative arrangement with the leading Azeri law firm, BM Law Firm, and has worked on numerous oil and gas projects in Azerbaijan, as well as on other commercial matters.
Among other transactions in Azerbaijan, we have represented the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on financing for the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). Together with BP, Statoil and other consortium members, SOCAR is participating in the multibillion dollar Shah Deniz gas field development project and the related South Caucasus Gas Pipeline Project offshore of Azerbaijan in the Caspian Sea. We also advised a Scottish LP in connection with its interest in an oil field in Azerbaijan, including a novel project management agreement with Schlumberger.
