Chadbourne offers sophisticated legal counsel to Canadian companies and private funds conducting cross-border business in the United States and around the globe. Chadbourne also assists U.S. and other non-Canadian companies and private funds conducting Canada-inbound business. Our practice, headquartered in New York City, is supported by our international attorneys resident in our other 12 offices who in many cases practice local law, including civil law, and strive to provide our international clients with a “one-stop shop.”
Chadbourne’s approach to the practice of international law is relatively unique as compared to many other New York-based international law firms who often have U.S. lawyers deployed to foreign offices to advise on U.S. corporate law matters. Our New York corporate practice itself is staffed with attorneys who collectively are fluent in ten languages, including French. Chadbourne also has a resident corporate partner who is also a member of the Quebec Bar in addition to the New York Bar. Chadbourne has Canadian barred associates in our New York, Los Angeles, London, Kyiv and Dubai offices.
Our Canada practice is multi-disciplinary. We have significant experience in cross-border M&A, private equity, securities, project finance, bank finance, bankruptcy/restructuring, litigation and intellectual property matters involving Canadian companies and funds. We also have extensive sector-specific experience in the energy, alternative energy, transportation, mining and insurance sectors upon which we can draw. We have an entrepreneurial approach to our international private equity practice and our work in Canada and with Canadian funds and companies. We are able to provide value-added services to our clients such as:
