Five-star Renaissance Hotel in Warsaw under franchise agreement with Marriott

Chadbourne represented Przedsiębiorstwo Państwowe 'Porty Lotnicze' (‘Polish Airports’ State Enterprise, PPL) and Port-Hotel Sp. z o.o. (Port-Hotel Ltd.) in negotiations with Global Hospitality Licensing, an affiliate company of Marriott International, of a 30-year franchise agreement regarding a new five-star Renaissance hotel to be built adjacent to the Warsaw Chopin Airport terminal. A set of contracts was signed on December 21, 2010, after 2 years of negotiations. PPL decided that the new hotel will be financed entirely from the enterprise’s own resources. The hotel is to remain PPL’s property, but will be operated by its subsidiary company, Port-Hotel Ltd., also acting as the franchisee. Construction work will commence in the spring of 2011. The hotel is to be commissioned in the first half of 2013. The investment is estimated at EUR 40 million.
