Practice Description

Dorota Szubielska is a tax and legal advisor. She specializes in issues related to tax, in particular in the areas of tax proceedings and fiscal control, administrative law and procedures, corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, and public finance. She represented clients in numerous proceedings before the administrative courts, the Supreme Court, and the Constitutional Tribunal. Ms. Szubielska participated in legislative work as an expert of Parliamentary Commissions and the Ministry of Finance in the field of tax law, finance law and economic activity. She also participated in legislative work related to the reform of the economic system in Poland in 1989-1990. She has served as a lecturer on financial and tax law at numerous professional training programs and conferences for attorneys as well as after-graduate studies. Ms. Szubielska has authored numerous publications, articles and books on topics concerning tax law, commercial law and tax and administrative procedure.

Representative Matters

  • Advised on tax matters related to numerous merger & acquisition transactions and restructurings as well as the first de-merger of public companies in Poland. 
  • Represented Polish and international corporations, leading Polish banks and investment funds in tax and customs litigations before the courts of law and the Constitutional Tribunal.

Honors

Ms. Szubielska is recognized in Chambers Global – The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business (2003-2008) for tax law and in Chambers Europe - Europe's Leading Lawyers for Business (2008, 2009) for tax law in Poland. She was recognized in Rzeczpospolita's (2007-2010) ranking of tax advisory firms as the best specialist in tax proceedings in Poland. Ms. Szubielska was selected as the best tax litigator in Dziennik Gazeta Prawna (2008-2009).  She is also recognized by Best Lawyers (2010), by PLC Which Lawyer? (2010) for tax law in Poland and Forbes, Polish edition, Law Firms Ranking 2010.

Activities and Affiliations

Ms. Szubielska is an advisor to the Legislative Committee and a member of the Higher Disciplinary Court of the National Chamber of Tax Advisors. She was a member of the State Examination Committee for Tax Advisors (first and the second term) and the Legislative Committee at the National Council of Legal Advisors. She is a member of the editorial board of Prawo i Podatki (Polish tax law professional publication).
