Current Issues in Pharmaceutical Law and Policy

November 16, 2006

Phoebe Wilkinson presented on the topic, and moderated a panel discussion on, "The Increasing Attempts to Use U.S. Courts By Foreign Plaintiffs." The discussion took place at the ABA Section of Litigation Products Liability Committee, 2006 Pharmaceutical CLE Workshop: Current Issues in Pharmaceutical Law and Policy.

The panel was comprised of in-house, plaintiff and defense attorneys, and discussed jurisdictional issues that arise in cases which are brought in U.S. courts by foreign plaintiffs seeking redress for personal injuries allegedly caused by their use of pharmaceutical products in their home countries. The panel addressed a number of recent court decisions involving such circumstances and offered insights into the litigation complexities that are created in such cross-border scenarios.
