Chadbourne Jumps 33 Spots to 29th in 2010 AmLaw Diversity Scorecard
March 8, 2010
The international law firm of Chadbourne & Parke LLP rose to 29th in the 2010 American Lawyer Diversity Scorecard, a jump of 33 spots in the national rankings from 62nd in 2009 in a year when the trend was in the opposite direction.
The survey results of Amlaw 200 firms, published in the March issue of American Lawyer, showed that Chadbourne's percentage of minority attorneys increased from 13.6% of the Firm's total number of lawyers to 16.7%.
"Chadbourne has been very aggressive in our approach to diversity and we are very gratified by the survey rankings," said Director of Legal Personnel Karen Eisen. "In 2006, the Firm created a Diversity Committee and hired a well-experienced diversity initiatives manager. We believe that the AmLaw survey confirms the wonderful results we are experiencing here at Chadbourne as a result of these initiatives."
Among the many reasons for the jump in the Firm's diversity rankings were several high-profile lateral hires that Chadbourne made in 2009 -- that of ADR partner C. Ignacio Suarez Anzorena as well as intellectual property counsel Duane Valz from Yahoo! Inc. and Kenneth Johnson from Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC.
The Firm has a long-standing, proactive commitment to diversity. As Managing Partner Charles K. O'Neill said, "Diversity works. It enhances our ability to innovate and enriches the quality of services, which ultimately benefits our clients."
Chadbourne is a charter signatory to the Association of the Bar of the City of New York's 2003 Statement of Diversity Principles. The Firm has a 20-member Diversity Committee co-chaired by partners Marian Baldwin Fuerst and Vincent Dunn.
